Back Story
Mez has a magnetic personality that draws others to him. He's totally honest, a little naive and quick to react which causes him to get into trouble. He's a natural athlete and loves sports, primarily soccer. He prefers to be outdoors but, if he's stuck inside, he’s either online or with his girlfriend, Cammeo.
Mez and his sister, Daprima, grew up in and out of foster care . Their mother had health issues which eventually led to her death, and their father died in a work related accident. When Mez was separated from his sisters he withdrew into himself until he discovered soccer, becoming part of a team helped give him confidence and kept him focused. Eventually, Daprima came of age and located him. He was then reunited with her and their younger sister Grace.
Esmodonti
Mez and Es are friends although it didn't start out that way. Es was his 'first' intimate experience. At the time, he was dating Cammeo, who caught them together. This created lots of angst for all concerned. Eventually Cammeo and Mez got back together.
Mez doesn’t understand magic. He doesn’t trust it and is a little afraid of it. So, when Daprima freed Io from being a genie, making him human - Mez was thrilled. He sees Io as the little brother he never had - even though Io is few millennia older than him.
Jesse
Mez shares a room with Jesse. He thinks Jesse’s a pain in the butt. Jesse always seems to make the wrong choices, and when he does, Mez is there to help clean up the mess.
Karanthir
When Cammeo broke up with Mez, Karanthir came up with a plan to help Mez win her back. It worked but there was a price to pay. Karanthir got Mez drunk and lured him into bed. Nothing happened. Mez would love to forget about this, but Karanthir won’t let him.
Quinn
- recently moved into the home of the Lady and the Dog. He and Mez became fast friends. They’re about the same age, love soccer, each are good friends with Io, and have issues with Jesse.
Vanni
When Mez escorted the Lady to Japan to attend Dolpa 12, they met Vanni. It was decided that he would return with them and move into the home of the Lady with the Dog. Prior to Vanni's marriage to Syrrah, he shared a room with Mez who sees Vanni as an older brother.
Zyfan
- is fully aware that Karanthir has a special interest in Mez. It began as a challenge and has grown into the role of protector. He also knows Karanthir can occasionally make Mez feel uncomfortable so he acts as a buffer for Mez whenever he can.
Love
From the moment Cammeo arrived, Mez was fascinated with her. It took some time for him to get up the nerve to ask her out. They enjoyed all the happiness of a first love until he got restless and gave Esmodonti a try. The two of them spent an evening together in Es’s ‘hide-away closet’. Cammeo caught them and instantly ended the relationship. He was devastated. He hadn’t realized how much he cared for her until she shut him out. It took a year for him to win her back and gain her trust again. Things were going well until her sister, Herita arrived and wreaked havoc on the Crew. This made Mez and Cammeo stronger. Herita has since left the picture. Cammeo’s still getting over it and he’s there to help her.
