Back Story
Jesse’s parents are in the Navy. Growing up, he spent brief periods of time with them when they were living in safe or stable places around the world. The rest of the time, he was passed from relative to relative. He grew into an unstable, rebellious teenager who wore out his welcome everywhere by the time he was in high school. One night, He stole his uncle's motorcycle to go joy riding. He ended up losing control and driving through a store window. This cost him his eye. Jesse was ‘lost’ since this accident. He had always planned to follow in his parents’ footsteps straight into the armed forces. The loss of his eye prevents this from happening.
Recently, he discovered a talent for cooking, and is now doing well in Culinary School.
Io the Genie
Jesse was very homophobic until he met Io . Through the genie's gentle, unselfish nature, Io managed to touch something deep inside Jesse. He tried to deny his feelings but they were too strong. The two of them were an item for a while but things have fizzled out. Jesse has a roving eye and although Io doesn’t mind sharing, Jesse couldn’t wrap his head around that. Jesse still insists he's not gay. Io was special because he was a genie (at the time) so this doesn’t count as a homosexual relationship (according to Jesse).
Io has since been freed from his lamp and is human. Jesse was happy for him when he found a job and mentor in the Elvin realm.
Tia
Jesse has never been able to stay faithful for long. He wants to but somehow, whenever things begin to go well, he manages to screw up.
Tia was Jesse’s first serious girlfriend. He met her in Los Angeles. Her father forbade her from dating him. She left home and moved in with her half brothers, Racolo and Aless, in the home of the Lady with the Dog. Then she invited Jesse to join her. This was right after his accident. He had nowhere else to go, so he agreed. Things were going well between them. Then she found out he cheated on her. She confronted him. They had a big fight. She had enough and moved back to her father’s house and never looked back.
Neve
When Neve first arrived, Jesse wasn't happy about it. His parents sent her to the home of the Lady with the Dog without mentioning it to him. The last thing Jesse wanted was a baby sister to look after, especially one that can be such a handful. After a long learning curve, the two have fallen into a routine that works for them. Jesse was reminded how it felt to be raised without parents, so he’s learned to be more understanding of her needs. He even enjoys her company, most of the time. She adores him.
Aless
Jesse came to know Aless through Tia, his ex-girlfriend. Aless is Tia’s younger brother. Jesse developed a soft spot for this shy nerdy kid.
Esmodonti
- and Jesse are friends. In the past, they were friends with benefits. When Jesse finds himself going through a rough time, he turns to Es. She never judges him and always seems to know just what to say to straighten him out. He considers her one of his closest friends.
Mez
Jesse shares a room with Mez. He knows that for the most part, Mez thinks he’s a pain in the butt. Yet, he’s always there to help Jesse out. Jesse thinks of him as his best friend and Mez may very feel the same way.
Vanni
- realized the moment Neve arrived that Jesse needed help with her He stepped up. He makes sure Neve gets the attention she deserves from her big brother. At first Jesse resented Vanni’s interference, but then he realized Vanni’s been helpful, although he’ll never admit it.
Tahariel
Jesse was very attracted to Tahariel from the moment he first saw her. She couldn’t stand him. It didn't help that in the first conversation they had he insulted her beloved cat. He had a lot of growing up to do before an opportunity to spend time with her came along. Harmonia, Tahariel's mom, hired him to transport her daughter's horse from Texas to the home of the Lady with the Dog in Florida. While Jesse, Tahariel and Neve were on this road trip, he managed to change her mind about him. By the time they returned home, they were dating, a lot.
