356 - That Boy

  Harmonia          Lu

Harmonia’s just returned from visiting
her husband, Beau, in Texas …

HARMONIA:

… By the time we got to the ranch, Beau was certain Tahariel and Jesse were already dating. I’ll tell ya -  they were bickering like an old married couple.

HARMONIA:

… I told him that although that boy had the hots for her, she insisted she wasn’t interested in him. But like her mama, Beau knows his little girl.

HARMONIA:

… So I told him straight out - based on what I’d seen - that boy is

a no-good, two-timing, cheating dawg.

HARMONIA:
… And that he, meaning Beau, needed to have long talk with him, cause Jesse ain’t never had a real man in his life to set him straight.

LU:

I agree.

HARMONIA:

In addition - I told him to be certain to emphasize that our little girl
didn’t skip all those years of schooling, on her way to being a doctor,
to have that boy interrupt her progress in any way.

LU:
I’m glad you brought that up.

HARMONIA:
Right. So first thing next morning - Beau took Jesse out for breakfast,
just the two of them.

LU:

And Jesse went willingly?

HARMONIA:

I don’t believe he had much of a choice. Y’all know how
persuasive my husband can be.

LU:

I certainly do, all 6’5” of him. The odds are - and forgive my language
Beau scared the poop out of him.

HARMONIA:

I believe so. If that boy is truly interested in Tahariel

- well now he knows what’s what.

LU:

You’re aware that they went out on a date the other night?

HARMONIA:

She told me and I’m fine with that. But if he reverts back to his ol ways
- I’ll have something to say about it.

HARMONIA:

… Now tell me what I missed while I was gone.

LU:

I have a theory about Xyla.

HARMONIA:

That’s right - you told me she popped in while I was away.

LU:

And it was the oddest thing. She was barking out orders, you know
how she is, and then Quinn walked in. Do you know she backed
away from him. Then she couldn’t get out of here fast enough.

HARMONIA:

Come to think of it, every time he’s come in here when she’s around
- she makes a hasty departure

LU:

I found that to be curious, so I did some research and came to this conclusion: Quinn is a dragon rider. To be more specific - he’s her dragon rider. Dragons, by the law of nature are obedient to their rider once that rider has been revealed.

HARMONIA:
Sweet Mary - our little brother, a dragon rider! Wait till we tell daddy!
Now why hasn’t anyone at Magick School figured this out?

LU:

Since there are no dragons in the world, other than her - they probably don’t know how to test for this specific gift. They only know his magic is strong.

HARMONIA:
Louisa - do you know what this means? It means once he knows
what he is - he can order that pesky ol’ dragon to stay away
from here and she’ll have to obey him.

LU:

I know.

HARMONIA:
Yee-haw! That’ll be such a delight to see.
