ZYFAN:
Karanthir, you look so refreshed.

KARANTHIR:
I’m feel much better, having finally washed
that fairy off of my person.

ZYFAN:
I hate to tell you this, but I feel I must. Wysh
has been telling everyone that you are her hero.

KARANTHIR:
Oh no - how ghastly! And here I didn’t think this day
could get any worse. You’re to keep that fairy far  
away from me, you and Cupcake.

ZYFAN:
I will do my best and I am sure Phae will help. 

KARANTHIR:
Now tell me, how was the wrap up?

ZYFAN:
You are referring to the meeting? It was surprisingly
informative. I have been told you spoke to
Herita while she was inside Cammeo’s doll. 

KARANTHIR:
I did.

ZYFAN:
Do you feel as if you have closure at last?

KARANTHIR:
To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure how I feel … 

KARANTHIR:
… Do you know she actually wanted me to bring her
over? I’m speaking of the real Herita, when she lived here.
What would make her think I’d do such a thing?

ZYFAN:
I would not know.

KARANTHIR:
I honestly hate having this vampire blood in me. I’d never
inflict it on another, never. Yet, here was Herita, plotting to
get it, starting with me, and when that failed, moving onto Es.

ZYFAN:
Es has forgiven her.

KARANTHIR:
Es is a much bigger person than I. I don’t think I have it
in me to forgive Herita - not that she’s ever asked me to. 

ZYFAN:
Perhaps she will, when she is well.

KARANTHIR:
Well? My prince, have we ever known her well? I think
not. She certainly wasn’t well when she lived
among us as herself or in that doll. 

ZYFAN:

That is true. Did you know that Lu came here solely for the  
purpose of being guardian to Cammeo and Herita?
They are the reason she joined the Committee. 

KARANTHIR:

Is that so? Well, she arrived a bit late on the scene if
you ask me. Herita had her plans in motion from the day
she moved in here. What else did Lu say?

ZYFAN:

It wasn’t until you told her that you felt Herita in the doll,
yet Daprima could not read it - that she realized it
was only the vampire part of Herita - in the doll.

KARANTHIR:

Really? Yes, I can see that. A vampire always knows when
another vampire is near, and Daprima can’t read us.
However,  it appears that Harmonia can see … something.

ZYFAN:

That is what she said. She called it pure vampire.  
Once she realized that only this was in the doll, she threw
her magic at it, which was amplified by Wysh’s wands.

KARANTHIR:
No need to tell me about that. That woman sent
me flying into the breakfast room. 

ZYFAN:
Yes, I was told. Are you certain you are not injured?

KARANTHIR:
Not even bruised, it’s the only advantage to being half vampire.

ZYFAN:
There is good news, if you would like to hear it.

KARANTHIR:
Good news? Finally, yes do tell me.

ZYFAN:
According to the Committee, ever since the vampire was in
the doll, Herita has been sweet, and happy. Syrrah suggested
that if the vampire is gone, she may make a full recovery. 

KARANTHIR:
Sweet, and happy, Herita? Inconceivable.
As for your sister’s theory - there’s a major flaw in it.  

ZYFAN:
Oh?

KARANTHIR:
Syrrah is assuming this tiny bit of vampire that was left in
Herita, has been the driving force to all her wrong doings.  
What if it was simply Herita all along?

ZYFAN:
That is a disturbing thought. I wonder if Lu is thinking along
those lines. She recommended not telling Cammeo what Syrrah
said about a recovery. No need to get her hopes up. 

KARANTHIR:
She won’t hear about it from me. Where’s Herita now?

ZYFAN:
Lu has put her in Syrrah’s care. They are on their way to
the Tower of Wellness. The Daughters of IlluminatA will
tend to her, under my sister’s supervision. 

KARANTHIR:
And that dreaded doll?

ZYFAN:
The doll is just a doll once more.
It has been returned to Cammeo.
