ALESS:
Thanks for helping m-m-me take pics of m-my
br-brother’s wedding to Es.

BRYNIE:
That was fun. I love playing with these old cameras.
I just don’t get why we can’t access the pics.

ALESS:
I have t-to d-develop the film first silly. There’s a d-d-dark room
at Magick School. I’ll do it t-tomorrow. Right now I want
t-to hear all about your time in the Elvin C-c-court.

BRYNIE:
It wasn’t as exciting as you’d think. 

ALESS:
I d-don’t believe that. T-tell me how everyone’s doing.

BRYNIE:

OK, well,  Fin hated it, which is why he’s now
here. I pretty much felt the same way.  

BRYNIE:
… But Karanthir and Orrie - just the opposite. They fit right in,
it was like they’d always been there.  

BRYNIE:
… Orrie told me he’s going to live there when he
grows up. He can have it.

ALESS:
B-b-but what was it like?

BRYNIE:

It was OK, for about a week. Then it was like living the same
day over and over again. The festivities last for days
and then another one begins … 

BRYNIE:
… It was worse than school. I had to be on my best behavior,
wearing these uncomfortable clothes, everyday single day. 

BRYNIE:
… If Fin told me to stop fidget-ing one more time …. 

BRYNIE:
… I couldn’t take it any more so they let me go to my grandparent’s.
That’s where I’ve been for the last few weeks.

ALESS:
I’m glad you g-g-got t-to see them. 

BRYNIE:
Me too. I did learn a few things at Court though. 

BRYNIE:
… Like, I never realized what a big deal Syrrah is
- until I saw everyone bowing and curtsying to her.
I forgot that she’s this royal princess.

BRYNIE:
… And did you know that Pica’s next in line to the throne,
right after Zyfan?

ALESS:
I think R-Racolo told me that. 

BRYNIE:
It was news to me. 

BRYNIE:
Vanni gave us the best advice on how to behave there,

he said just nod and smile, which gets old really fast.
But then he can time travel away and escape from it all. 

ALESS:
Wh-wh-what about the g-guests of honor, Phae and Zyfan.

BRYNIE:
Phae’s doing better than Zyfan. He looks all worn out. They’re
expected to be perfect all the time. I don’t know how they do it.

BRYNIE:
… Oh, and Phae has this crazy fairy that sort of adopted her. 

ALESS:

A fairy!

BRYNIE:
Uh-huh. 

BRYNIE:
… Her name’s Wysh. I don’t know her story yet but Karanthir
says she’s a big nuisance. I think she’s funny. She talks so fast
- it’s like light speed. And I think she has a crush on Zyfan. 

ALESS:
M-m-maybe that’s why Karanthir d-doesn’t like her?

BRYNIE:
Yeah, you got a point there. Anyway, I’m glad to be back.
Things are so much better here. 

BRYNIE:
… And now that Fin and Daprima got engaged, I’m that much
closer to being an uncle. I want to be an uncle so bad.

ALESS:
It’ll happen,  just g-give it time.
