and yet so different.

TAHARIEL:
… Aunt Lu told me a little about her. Sounds to me like she had a
supernatural break down. Mama’s had a few so I know what
they’re like. Sorry you had to go through that.  

 

CAMMEO:
Thank you. I suppose I should put that picture away somewhere.
This is a new start, in a way, isn’t it?

TAHARIEL:
Sure is, for me too. Oh wow - is this your doll?

CAMMEO:
Yes, I call her Charlotte. Mez gave her to me, he’s my boyfriend.
Isn’t she lovely? I just adore her.

TAHARIEL:

She’s amazing. Do you collect dolls?

CAMMEO:
No, but I do like them quite a bit.

TAHARIEL:
I’m glad to hear that cause there’s someone I’d like you to meet …

TAHARIEL:
… This is Josafina. She’s been with me forever.

CAMMEO:
Oh how sweet. Is she one of those American Girl dolls?

TAHARIEL:
That’s right. I brought a few smaller porcelain dolls too, but

she’s my favorite.  My gram gave her to me when I was little.

HARMONIA:

It’s only me. I wanted to see if ya’ll are getting along.  Is my
little girl overwhelming you, Cammeo, with all her necessities. 

CAMMEO:
Oh I don’t mind.

TAHARIEL:
That’s mama’s way of saying I over-packed, isn’t that right mama?

HARMONIA:
Maybe a little but we’ll make it work.
Hmmm, so this here’s  your room, Cammeo?
Would you mind  if we did a little redecorating?

CAMMEO:
Do you really think that’s necess …

TAHARIEL:
What’d ya have in mind mama?

HARMONIA:
Well, ya’ll are definitely in need of more storage,
and I think some new bedding could brighten the place
up a bit too. Ya know, something cheery.

TAHARIEL:
Purple?

HARMONIA:
Tahariel loves her purples. Do ya’ll have a favorite color Cammeo? 

CAMMEO:
I don’t know. Maybe white?

HARMONIA:
I can work with that. Yes indeed. I think we all need
to go shopping, my treat.

CAMMEO:
Oh but I couldn’t have you spending your money on me. 

HARMONIA:
Nonsense.  My sister’s your advisor - that makes you family.
And you’ll get me all riled up if you deny me the privilege of spoiling
my new niece. So, we’re goin’ shopping, ya hear? Say yes ma’am.

CAMMEO:
Yes ma’am.

HARMONIA:
There’s a good girl. I’ll go see if Lu wants to come along with us.

TAHARIEL:
Be right there mama. I just want to touch up my makeup.

TAHARIEL:
Don’t mind mama, she just likes to get her way,
and as long as she does, she’s happy.

A little later …

TAHARIEL:
What do you think? Too much?

CAMMEO:
Well … actually, yes, but it looks lovely on you.

TAHARIEL:
Ya want to try some?

CAMMEO:
Oh no, I don’t know how and….

TAHARIEL:
Then sit right down and let me to work my magic on you.

CAMMEO:
But, well, do you suppose those colors will suit me?

TAHARIEL:
No, you’re more of a peaches and cream kinda gal.
Don’t you worry, I’ll be subtle.
