261-Shichi’s Debt
Shichi Phae
Friday morning in the dining room …
SHICHI:
… Well Phae, the griffons should be here in a couple of hours.
Before you know it, we’ll be in our own realm and at the Court
of the Mountain Clan. I have the itinerary, but I'm sure it'll change …
PHAE:
Oh let me see … I'm to have a private dinner with Zyfan's parents
and mine ... Oh there's a ball. A ball Shichi! How exciting.
SHICHI:
You've never been to a ball, have you?
PHAE:
Please don't tell me it could possibly be dull?
SHICHI:
I'd never say that to you. I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it.
As for me, I’ll try to look interested.
PHAE:
What's this interview with the One?
SHICHI:
Just a meeting between you and Zyfan's uncle.
PHAE:
Will Zyfan be with me?
SHICHI:
No, but don't worry. I'll be with you through it all,
and I'll prepare you to the best of my ability.
PHAE:
I don't know what I'd do without you Shichi. You're…
you're like the big brother I never had.
SHICHI:
I've grown very attached to you too Phae.
PHAE:
So why do I feel as if something is wrong?
SHICHI:
It is. Once your position has been established,I’ll be returning
to my Clan.I’d rather remain your advisor, but I am indebted
to my sister and she demands my presence.
PHAE:
Somehow I thought I'd never be without you, but then -
you must miss your family. I know I miss mine.
SHICHI:
I wish I could say that - but not so much. Although, I am
looking forward to meeting my niece.
PHAE:
This explains Zam’s sudden need to acquire a companion for me.
SHICHI:
Yes. He wants his daughter to look after you for him. Let me
warn you, Pukis - they’re a possessive and protective lot.
Once they’re in your life, they never leave.
PHAE:
I don't think that’s such a bad thing.
SHICHI:
Some day, after you’ve had one of them clinging to you for what
seems like forever, I’m going to remind you of what you just said.
PHAE:
You’ve got a date. In the meantime, I know I'll miss you both terribly
when you go. Still, I release you from all your obligations to me and my
Auntie Thyssa. And I leave you with an open invitation to return
to your position as my advisor at any time.
SHICHI:
Thank you. It would be an honor to serve you again.
