BRYNIE:
…Doing homework?
ALESS:
N-n-no. These are Karanthir's l-lab results from when he was sick. Racolo
d-didn't r-recognize some of the d-d-ata so I th-thought I'd help.
BRYNIE:
Racolo's helping my brother? That's a switch. I thought he hated him, which I can understand since Karanthir can be a big brat sometimes.
ALESS:
Racolo's interested in m-most stuff about vampires. He's t-trying to m-make a spell to k-keep Es awake during the d-d-ay. She has t-to sleep when the sun’s up, you know. If it works, then she’ll b-be able to spend
m-more time with Lithium.
BRYNIE:
That’d be great. I never thought about the drawbacks to being a vampire.
I guess Karanthir lucked out – being only half, but don't tell him
I said that. I hate it that he's a vamp.
ALESS:
R-racolo feels the same way about Es. I think that's why he's
always so m-m-mad at her. He k-keeps himself busy so he doesn't
have to think about it, b-but then he g-goes and forgets things.
BRYNIE:
Like what?
ALESS:
He m-misplaced another one of his magic books. This is the s-s-second one.
The f-first one was full of n-notes on v-vampires. We c-can't find it
anywhere. And now, his Rune book is m-missing.
BRYNIE:
Grace, what are you doing?
GRACE:
I'm detecting, yes I am. There's a mystery to be solved and I’m
going to be the one who solves it so I'm looking for clues.
ALESS:
W-what kind of clues? M-maybe we c-c-can help?
GRACE:
First on my list is a little red book.
ALESS:
A r-r-red book?
GRACE:
That's right. You see, I heard Mez talking to Cammeo, and he said we have to find this book, it's very important, yes it is. It has something to do with Karanthir.
ALESS:
Th-that's the vampire b-book I was just t-telling you about.
BRYNIE:
What's it got to do with Karanthir? Do you think he has it?
GRACE:
No silly. The book has something to do with him getting sick, or it might.
I'm not sure. I couldn't hear what Mez was saying very well.
BRYNIE:
So you were eavesdropping.
GRACE:
I was not. I just happened to be passing by, yes I was. And you want
to know something else? I have a list of suspects to detect about too.
BRYNIE:
Oh yeah? Name one.
GRACE:
I don’t know if I should. Maybe if you promise not to tell?
Cross your heart and hope to die, stick a needle in your eye.
BRYNIE:
Yeah, yeah - whatever.
GRACE:
OK then, brace yourself cause this will shock you, yes it will. Herita.
BRYNIE:
Herita? What's she got to do with this?
GRACE:
I don't know, but I have to find that book to clear her
name, yes I do, that's what Mez said anyway.
ALESS:
G-grace, Racolo and I l-looked everywhere for that b-book. Here and
at M-magic School. Wh-what makes you think you-re going to find it?
GRACE:
Because I'm going to keep detecting and follow my clues. If they don’t lead me to the book then I’ll be forced to use my secret weapon, yes I will.
BRYNIE:
Right. So you want us to believe you have a secret weapon.
GRACE:
Well I do Brynie and his name’s Io - and since he's a genie he can do anything, yes he can. So he'll know how to find that book. I'm sure of it. So there!
