199 - My Orders

       Washi            Zyfan

Wednesday evening …

WASHI:

My, you're deep in thought.

WASHI:

… You weren't here to greet me when I arrived.

ZYFAN:

Should I have been?

WASHI:

You represent the United Elvin Nation.

ZYFAN:

We are in the human realm. None of that matters here.

WASHI:

Perhaps not to you.

ZYFAN:

Especially not to me.

WASHI:

The way you're behaving - one would think you're not happy to see me.

ZYFAN:
I just had a conversation with your wife.

WASHI:

You have met my Usagi?

ZYFAN:

You failed to inform her of what really took place between us.

WASHI:

I don't recall her ever asking me.

ZYFAN:

She knows the truth now.

WASHI:

You don't know the truth Zyfan.

ZYFAN:

You speak to me of the truth? You, who

lied to me from the moment we met.

WASHI:

I was only following orders.

ZYFAN:

Orders from whom?

WASHI:

I can't reveal that information.

ZYFAN:

Why not? Our Clans came together to fight a common foe. We were allies. Are you telling me now that we were not?

WASHI:
Ours was a temporary treaty, not created to last beyond one mission. My orders were to discover everything I could about those who had been my Clan's enemy, for over a millennia.

ZYFAN:

Meaning my Clan? So you seduced me because I am next in line to rule?

WASHI:
As instructed, I used any means necessary to get the information needed.

I admit you caught my attention long before I knew who you were.

WASHI:

… Don't look so shocked Zyfan. You wanted to be seduced. You enjoyed it.

I didn't force anything upon you.

ZYFAN:

The time we were together, it was all a lie.

WASHI:

I never lied to you.

ZYFAN:

No, you just failed to mention many truths.

WASHI:

Those truths would have interfered with my orders, and our pleasure.

ZYFAN:

I cannot even look at you.

WASHI:

Zyfan, it was all such a long time ago. I can't believe you hold a grudge.

We enjoyed each other's company. You made what would have

been an uneventful mission, very enjoyable.

ZYFAN:

I am so glad I could help pass the time for you.

WASHI:

You act as if you got nothing out of it. I know you enjoyed

our long talks, our nights, all our time together.

ZYFAN:

And in all those talks you never told me you had a wife.

WASHI:

I was following orders.

ZYFAN:

And your orders included ending our affair abruptly?

WASHI:

Orders change.

ZYFAN:

… And then you accuse me of stealing your genie? You named me a thief!

WASHI:

I made a formal apology to your court and dismissed all charges.

ZYFAN:

But you still think I stole him.

WASHI:

The lamp of my genie went missing. You were the only one who

had access to my tent, therefore the logical choice.

ZYFAN:

You threw me out of our tent. I returned from patrol to find my things

scattered, the tent down, and you on your horse. Tell me - how could

I have taken your genie? A genie I knew nothing about. It makes me

wonder, who had the most to gain by the loss of your Clan's genie?

WASHI:

That is an interesting point. Yet, my genie is here. Regardless, your name

was cleared of the matter. I don't know why you bring it up, but if

there is anything more I can do ...

ZYFAN:

You can tell me why you are really here.

WASHI:

The One invited me.

ZYFAN:

I am fully aware of my Uncle's invitation, but that is not why you came.

WASHI:
Not entirely. The genie has been the property of my father's Clan

for thousands of years. Now the humans have it. We cannot let

these humans own such a powerful thing without proper guidance.

ZYFAN:

So you are here to guide Daprima in the care of Io?

I should very much like to see this.

WASHI:

She is human, and a female. I'm sure she will welcome my council.

ZYFAN:

It is obvious you have not yet met her.

WASHI:
It's unimportant. I am now living here with you Zyfan. Do you

intent to remain hostile towards me indefinitely?

ZYFAN:

I am not ready to make that decision yet - but for now, yes.

WASHI:

I will remind you that your One and my Empress sent me here to

open diplomatic relations between our two nations. How do you

intend for this to work if you plan to be difficult?

ZYFAN:

That is your assignment, not mine. If you expect a successful

mission with me as your mark again, then I guarantee you, you have a lot of

work ahead of you. Good night Washi. I have someplace I need to be.

WASHI:

Mmmm, my little archer has grown up.

This could prove more interesting than expected.
