165 - Mission Accomplished

2010

Monday afternoon ...

VANNI:

… And how are things with Shichi?

CHINATSU:

I have not seen him.

VANNI:

Is that his doing, or yours?

CHINATSU:

Do you think I’m being difficult?

VANNI:
Little sister, you have a way of seeming aloof, which

could cause a man to think you’re not interested.

CHINATSU:

I am busy with my daughter. She needs me.

VANNI:

I agree, but if you want a relationship with Shichi you’re going

to have to make time for him.  Are you interested in him?

CHINATSU:

Yes. I am ... unsure as to how I can make him notice me, again.

VANNI:

Trust me - every man here has noticed you, especially him. Besides,

Besides, you are geisha. Getting men to notice you is what you do best.

Later in Syrrah and Vanni’s sitting room ...

SYRRAH:

… And you have not spoken to him since the arrival of little Meg?

CHINATSU:

No. I have been thinking, do you suppose he is no longer

interested in me because I have a child?

SYRRAH:

If that is so, then he is not the man I thought him to be.

Why not invite him to tea? Then you can talk things through.

CHINATSU:

When I look at him, talking is not what I want to do.

SYRRAH:

Well then, perhaps Meg should sleep in the nursery tonight with

Pica? This would leave you alone for the evening - unless

you choose to make other arrangements.

CHINATSU:

I think my brother chose his wife wisely.

SYRRAH:

I see no reason to argue with that.

Meanwhile in the dining room …

BRYNIE:

See? You just type it in, hit enter and ...

BRYNIE:
… I think this link might be just what we’re looking for.

KARANTHIR:

Are we looking at porn?

BRYNIE:

What? No. I mean I ... NO!

KARANTHIR:

Then what are you so excited about?

SHICHI:

Porn - what’s that?

KARANTHIR:

Ah my old friend, we really must spend more time together.

There’s so much I need to show you. All right little

monster,  just what's so titillating?

SHICHI:

Brynie’s showing me how to use the internet to research geisha.

KARANTHR:

Still going on about Chinatsu are you? She’s quite the mystery. So what have we discovered thus far?

BRYNIE:

I always thought they were like high priced prostitutes,

but it turns out they’re not.

KARANTHIR:

And just what would you know about high priced prostitutes?

BRYNIE:

Enough.

SHICHI:

According to this, sex doesn’t really play a big role in what they do.

KARANTHIR:

Oh be serious, everything’s about sex. They may not actually partake

in the final act, but they certainly have a lot to do with getting there.

BRYNIE:

'Memoirs of A Geisha' - of course.

SHICHI:

What's that?

BRYNIE:

It's a movie. Why don’t you just watch it?

KARANTHIR:

Hello Chinatsu.

CHINATSU:

Good afternoon. You are making plans to go to the movies?

KARANTHIR:

Actually, Brynie is teaching us all about the life of geisha.

SHICHI:

Karanthir - don't ...

KARANTHIR:

He suggested we watch a movie about the topic but to be honest,

I'm not all that interested. However Shichi’s absolutely intrigued.

SHICHI:

KaRANthir!

KARANTHIR:

Here’s an idea, being that you lived the dream, so to speak, perhaps

you would be kind enough to reveal to him all he … desires to know.

CHINATSU:

It would be my honor.

CHINATSU:

... Shichi, it would please me if you would join me for tea this evening.

SHICHI:

Yes, that would please me too.

CHINATSU:

I will see you then.

KARANTHIR:

Mission accomplished.
