ORRIE:
K’ranthir you ready yet?
KARANTHIR:
That depends - what do you expect me to be ready for, Orrie my boy.
ORRIE:
We going to the zoo.
KARANTHIR:
Who may I ask is we?
ORRIE:
Me and you.
KARANTHIR:
Seriously, what makes you think I’m interested
in spending an afternoon at the zoo?
ORRIE
You promised. Go ask Zyfan, he'll tell you.
Then ...
KARANTHIR:
… And he seems to think we're going to the zoo today. Can you
believe that? Me, at the zoo. I mean honestly …
ZYFAN:
But you did promise him, Karanthir. He came into our room
- I believe it was Wednesday. He woke you up and told you
how much he wanted to see the animals.
KARANTHIR:
Am I to understand that he interrupted my sleep to get me to do this?
Why - that’s cheating. I would’ve agreed to anything just to go back to sleep.
ZYFAN:
And you did.
KARANTHIR:
Oh this is awful. And now I’m expected to bring him to a smelly old zoo?
ZYFAN:
Perhaps the zoo will not smell?
KARANTHIR:
How could it not? I grew up on a farm my prince. Trust me - animals are not known for their personal hygiene.
ZYFAN:
But, you will be spending the day with your little brother
and making him very happy.
KARANTHIR:
Oh - what I do for that child, I mean really.
Later in the living room ...
ORRIE:
Vanni, guess what? K’ranthir took me to the zoo …
VANNI:
Karanthir took you to the zoo?
ORRIE:
Yup! We were there all day. It was unbelievable.
And then we went for ice cream.
VANNI:
What was your favorite part?
ORRIE:
Ice cream!
VANNI:
I should have guessed.
ORRIE:
I have to tell Brynie …
Orrie leaves.
KARANTHIR:
What a day! He tricks me into taking him to that ghastly
place, insists we see every beast there. We walked in circles
for hours - and what’s his favorite part? The ice cream we
had on our way home. I mean really.
