Zyfan spent his childhood in the court of the One, his uncle. There, he led a sheltered life. When Syrrah was accepted into the sisterhood of the  Daughters of IlluminatA, he became next in line to the throne. To better prepare him, his parents encouraged him to join the military. They did not realize what a fearless soldier he would be. Instead of remaining in the background where he would be safe, he was always the first to volunteer for any mission. His fellow soldiers admired and respected him.  

There came a time when the Mountain Clan joined forces with the Dessert Clan to fight a common enemy. The Shiekh’s brother, *Washi, took a liking to Zyfan. He was impressed with the prince’s skill with the bow and arrow and soon they were spending a lot of time together. 

Betrayal

Zyfan was in love. Washi began as his mentor, and quickly became his lover.  Zyfan moved into Washi’s tent.

Much later, after patrolling, Zyfan arrived back to find his belongings outside their tent. Washi informed Zyfan he no longer needed him and that he was off to see his wife. He got on his horse and galloped away. 

Zyfan was devastated. He had no idea Washi was married. Under elvin law, an extra martial affair is permitted, but only with open consent from all parties. Without consent, it is considered dishonorable and a great insult, as if Zyfan was not worthy of Washi.  Zyfan was heartbroken and humiliated. 

Then word of his reckless heroics reached his parents and

The Heart

The Future One must have a wife. The councillors chose Phae. She arrived in the home of the Lady with the Dog determined to be just that. Zyfan could have sent her back to the elvin realm, and he would have been given another choice, but there was something about her that he liked. So the two became friends, and even went on a few dates.  Karanthir encouraged this being fully aware of  what’s expected of the One.  

Eventually, Zyfan decided that Phae would be the Heart of the One, his wife. She in turn gave Zyfan her Blessing* to always have Karanthir in his life.  Phae knows that Zyfan is not in love with her. She accepts this so she can fulfill her parents’ goals for her.

Love

The night he arrived in the home of the Lady with the Dog, Zyfan met Karanthir. Karanthir made quite an impression on the prince with his constant flirting. Zyfan liked it, but played hard to get. He felt Karanthir wanted it that way. He was right. Karanthir loved romancing the prince and kept coming back for more. This was all lots of fun until Zyfan realized he was falling in love. Many warned him that Karanthir wanted nothing more than a good time. That all changed when Zyfan blurted out how much he loved him. He waited for the rejection he thought would follow, instead Karanthir proclaimed his love as well.  Then they moved in together and have a strong, loving relationship..
