Back Story

Aless grew up in Los Angeles with his parents and older half sister Tia.  He was a quiet, shy child. Most of the time he felt completely overshadowed by Tia. He loved his books and later, his computer. He treasured the times he spent with his mother. She had a way of bringing out his silly side. He led a very normal life until his mother died in a car accident. His father’s way of coping with this loss was to focus primarily on his law practice.  Aless was sent to a boarding school in England.

One day in the school library, Aless became so absorbed in a book he didn't realize the library had closed. The librarian snuck up on him, stroked his hair and told him what a pretty boy he was. Aless ran. The librarian, a very large man, cornered him. Lightning sprung from Aless' fingers and blew the librarian across the room. No one was more surprised than Aless - who ran out of there as fast as he could. Aless was sent back to the states. Rather than return to LA, Aless moved into the home of  the Lady with the Dog where his older half brother Racolo lived. 

The boys were happy to be reunited. Racolo was busy with his son, Lithium, and finishing up his education.  Aless was left to his own devices. He liked to  browse thrift stores for items that didn't work (radios, cameras, etc.) which he'd buy and repair. In the process, he discovered a talent for photography. Aless liked his new home, but hated school. He wouldn't admit it to anyone but he was the victim of a bully. Daprima sensed something was wrong and tried to help him.  Her empathic skills sought out Aless and before he knew it, lightning flew from his fingertips zapping her. She recovered but Aless’ secret was out. Racolo, being gifted in magic himself,  was very understanding.  Aless was enrolled in Magick School where he could learn to use and control his gift.
