Thursday evening ...
ESMODONTI:
This is so Roc, always late. He used to pull this crap on me all the time.
DAPRIMA:
I’m sure he’ll be here any minute.
ESMODONTI:
Forget how to tell time?
RACOLO:
What’s your problem?
ESMODONTI:
You’re late. Ya think your time is more valuable than mine! Where’ve ya been?
RACOLO:
Putting Lithium to bed, is that OK with you?
This isn’t going to work.
DAPRIMA:
Just give it a try.
RACOLO:
I’m only doing this to stop Lith from using his magic to see her.
DAPRIMA:
I think we all want that. OK, let’s get right to it.
DAPRIMA:
… Es, what would work best for you?
ESMODONTI:
That’s easy. Since I crash while the sun’s up, I’ll take him at night.
Just move his crib into my room and the deal's done.
RACOLO:
Over my dead body!
DAPRIMA:
I have to agree with Racolo. Es, don’t you think it’s best for Lithium to stay where he is - he’s comfortable there.
ESMODONTI:
I guess you’re right about that, for now. Too much change might be bad for him. So, dig this, I get to put him to bed on the nights that I’m not waitressing.
RACOLO:
That gives you access to my room.
ESMODONTI:
What's the matter Roc - afraid of little ol’ me
being in your bedroom? It never bothered ya before.
RACOLO:
It bothers me now. And I have classes all day - so
when do I get to see him?
ESMODONTI:
Before you split for school.
RACOLO:
Thank you for giving me an hour each morning with him. No way!
He’s legally mine. I don’t have to agree to any of this.
ESMODONTI:
But he’s blinking to me. So I don’t really need your OK.
He’ll be with me - like it or not.
RACOLO:
I ought to waste your vampire ass right now.
DAPRIMA:
Will you two knock it off! You're giving me a headache.
RACOLO:
Are you listening to her? She's being totally unreasonable.
ESMODONTI:
Bite me.
DAPRIMA:
You know, if you two could get along - then Lithium
could be with the both of you, at the same time.
RACOLO:
That’s not happening.
DAPRIMA:
Wait a sec - I think this could work. Es, what nights are you off?
ESMODONTI:
Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays.
DAPRIMA:
Great. Those are her nights with Lithium. OK?
RACOLO:
I guess.
DAPRIMA:
Es?
ESMODONTI:
That’s cool with me. Are we done?
DAPRIMA:
Uh-huh.
ESMODONTI:
Hey look, it’s Thursday and I still have an hour left on the clock. I’ll be
giving my little elf-kin a good night kiss now. Roc, plant yourself
right there till my time’s up. Thanks Daprima. You're a real doll.
RACOLO:
Congratulations. You found a way to control my life.
DAPRIMA:
It's not that bad. She only has him three nights a week. You won’t have to rely on Cammeo to babysit as much. Plus you can use the time to study, or go out.
RACOLO:
And I can’t use my own room - three nights a week.
DAPRIMA:
This isn't about you, it's about what's best for Lithium.
RACOLO:
You say that to me one more time …
DAPRIMA:
Careful, you know I’m right.
