353 - She’s Into Me
2024
Jesse Mez Karanthir
Sunday in Mez and Jesse’s room …
JESSE:
… Man, I can’t wait to take a shower.
MEZ:
Yeah, no offense but - you smell like a horse.
MEZ:
… Karanthir - what are you doing here?
KARANTHIR:
Waiting for you.
MEZ:
So ya just walk right in?
KARANTHIR:
No, your lovely sister insisted I make myself at home …
MEZ:
Grace! I’m gonna kill her. She can’t invite you into my room.
JESSE:
Our room.
MEZ:
Whatever.
KARANTHIR:
Oh come now Mez - do you honestly think I’d come in at your little
sister’s invitation. I mean really! It was Daprima who asked me in.
MEZ:
Why the hell would she do that?
KARANTHIR:
This is about work, and I felt it imperative that I bring
you up to date as soon as possible.
JESSE:
Work? You work? Like a job? I didn’t think you did stuff like that.
KARANTHIR:
I happen to be his supervisor.
JESSE:
What? When did that happen?
MEZ:
Long story.
MEZ:
… You could’ve just texted me.
KARANTHIR:
Ah, but that’s exactly what I was doing. Shall I finish
my text or tell you here and now?
MEZ:
Just tell me. What do you want?
KARANTHIR:
It’s not what I want, it’s what you want. I have rearranged the
schedule to give you Saturday off, as requested.
MEZ:
Oh.
KARANTHIR:
Oh? Is that all you have to say? I believe a thank you is in order.
MEZ:
Thank you.
KARANTHIR:
You are welcome. Now in the future, I’ll expect you to be
more courteous when I go out of my way for you.
KARANTHIR:
… Oh and welcome home Jesse.
And honestly, Mez is correct - you do smell of horse. Tah.
JESSE:
He’s really your boss? That must suck.
MEZ:
It’s not too bad. He shadowed me for two days to see what I did.
He even helped me sweep up one night.
JESSE:
Karanthir - with a broom! I’d have paid to see that.
MEZ:
Right! He’s learned what everyone does and made some changes that
really work. The customers love him. He’s actually doing a good job.
And if you tell him I said that I will kill you.
JESSE:
Understood.
MEZ:
Hey - you never finished telling me how it went with Tahariel.
JESSE:
She’s into me now.
MEZ:
Just like that? Before you left, she couldn’t stand to be
in the same room with you.
JESSE:
What can I say? She changed her mind.
We’re going out tomorrow night.
