327 - Overdressed
Vanni Syrrah
In Syrrah and Vanni’s sitting room …
VANNI:
Oh, I must’ve fallen asleep. I didn’t mean to …
SYRRAH:
You are working too hard, husband. You cannot continue to
tend your art gallery as well as your sister’s flower shop.
VANNI:
I admit it’s been a rough couple of months. As soon as I
have some spare time, I’ll hire a manager for Chinatsu’s shop.
VANNI:
… Wife, aren’t you a bit overdressed, even for you?
SYRRAH:
Do I look like the Healing Priestess of IlluminatA, and
Royal Princess of the House of the Third Moon - that I am?
VANNI:
I should say so.
SYYRAH:
Then husband, I am dressed perfectly.
VANNI:
Does this have anything to do with Daprima’s
text concerning Herita?
SYRRAH:
You know me well.
VANNI:
I expect you have a plan.
SYRRAH:
I have informed Racolo that he is to take
me through the portal at Magick School that
leads to the Committee’s whereabouts.
VANNI:
You’re going to intimidate them in all your finery.
SYRRAH:
Perhaps. I promise you this - I will see Herita with or without
their approval, and this time, it will go my way.
VANNI:
This time? You saw her before and never told me?
SYRRAH:
I thought it best if you did not know. Her actions nearly caused the
death of my brother, and I was fully prepared to … cast judgement on her.
VANNI:
Did you?
SYRRAH:
I could not. Herita’s mind was shattered. She was far too ill.
VANNI:
So, instead you helped her.
SYRRAH:
If only! I offered my services to the doctors of the Committee
- a group of arrogant human men - if you ask me, not one them
gifted in the healing arts. I was told they did not need me.
VANNI:
I think they need all the help they can get.
SYRRAH:
Indeed. However, at the time, I allowed my temper to get the
better of me. I told them to have at her, and promptly left.
And now this - Herita walking about in a doll.
VANNI:
I wonder, how can they help her if they can’t even contain her?
SYRRAH:
Exactly. It was magic that caused Herita’s illness, and magic is the
way to heal her. If I must whisk her out of there and bring her to
the Temple of Wellness in my homeland - I am prepared to do so.
