319 - You Talk a Lot
Grace Wysh
Saturday afternoon in the hallway …
GRACE:
… and you’re the first fairy I’ve ever met, yes you are,
and I’m so excited to finally run into you.
WYSH:
Hehehe, oh thank you, andjustwhoareyou?
GRACE:
My name is Grace, yes it is, and I already know
your name, it’s Wysh.
WYSH:
That’s right - that’s right. You’re much smaller
than the other humans I’ve met.
GRACE:
That’s because I’m only a little girl.
WYSH:
Oh I see. You haven’t had a chance to grow yet.
Hehehe. When you do - will you be as tall as
Prince Zyfan? He’s so dreeamy.
GRACE:
I don’t think so, but I guess I’ll be as tall as Daprima,
she’s my sister. I have a brother too, his name’s Mez.
GRACE:
… I also had a genie for while, but Daprima freed him, so now
I guess he’s my ex-genie, or maybe he’s just - human? His name’s
Io and he’s visiting the elven realm right now …
WYSH:
Mymymymy you talk a lot.
GRACE:
Do I? I never noticed. Anyway, Io’s going to bring
me back a fairy, yes he is. I told him to, just before he left.
WYSH:
Whatwasthat?
GRACE:
Io’s going to catch me a fairy, and I was hoping that you’d …
WYSH:
No! No! No! NO! He can’tcatchafairy. Whatdoyou
think - catching one of us is as easy as catchingafish?!
GRACE:
A fish? Why would I do with a fish?
WYSH:
Exactly!
GRACE:
But I want a fairy of my very own, like the way Phae has you.
And I was hoping you’d tell me how to catch one, so I can tell Io.
WYSH:
No no no little Grace, you’ve got it all wrong …
WYSH:
(whispers)
Phae-dear doesn’t have me - I have her, but don’t tell her that.
Wait - that’s not quite right - I’m here for her. Yes that’s right. Now
as for catching one of my kind - it’s impossible and I’ll tell you why.
WYSH:
… Because we fly reallyreallyreallyfast and go
reallyreallyreally high and we’re just way too clever with our wands.
GRACE:
But, Io’s not my genie anymore and I really want a fairy to keep …
WYSH:
Keep!!!! Why that’s fairy-napping. How’d you like it if I were to
take you to another realm and keep you there against your will?
GRACE:
I wouldn’t like that at all, no I wouldn’t.
WYSH:
Either would a fairy. And why do you need your own
fairy when you have me, here, with you right now?
GRACE:
I don’t know. I guess - I don’t need a fairy of my own, do I?
WYSH:
Of course not. You only needed to talk it over with someone
who knows better. And I’m happy to help anytime,
that’s what I’m here for hehehehehe.
GRACE:
I better go now, I have a very
important letter to write to Io, yes I do.
