MEZ:
So what do you think of - here?

QUINN:
It takes some getting used to, I can tell ya that. I neva knew 

magic was real, or vampires and elves and all the other bits. 

And then, my sister tells me I might be gifted with the magic too. 

MEZ: 

Sorry to hear that. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.

QUINN:
Ya donnae like magic? But, what about the genie?

MEZ: 

Io’s fine - I don’t hold his magic against him, 

as long as he doesn’t use it around me.

 QUINN:
So ya neva been tempted to make a wish?

MEZ:
Not anymore, in my experience, it always backfires.

QUINN:
How’s that?

MEZ:

Well, I share a room with Jesse - have you met him?

QUINN:
Aye.

MEZ:
One time he came in really late, drunk off his ass and he wouldn’t 

shut up. So I wished Io to take him away, and he did. 

QUINN:
Sounds harmless to me.

MEZ:
I’m not finished. After they got back from - wherever, 

they had … they were … they had hooked up.

QUINN:
Naw! You mean to say the two of them had …

MEZ:
Uh-huh, and it went on for months. I never knew what
I was walking in on when I went to my room.

QUINN:
I see what ya mean. And they’re a couple?

MEZ:

Not so much anymore. Jesse’s into girls now, but Io doesn’t mind so I 

don’t  know  what their deal is, as long as it’s not happening in my room.

QUINN
Right.

JESSE:

… There you are! I’ve been looking for you …

QUINN:

Me?

JESSE:

… Yeah you - you little  heart breaker.

QUINN:

Eh?

JESSE:
My sister has a crush on you.

QUINN:
Who?

JESSE:
My sister Neve. You’re all she talks about.

QUINN:
Ya mean the wee girl?

JESSE:
That’s right, the wee girl. You’re her first crush .
So what are you gonna do about it?

QUINN:
Uh … dunno.

JESSE:
Well, you better come up with a plan cause if you hurt her,  

I’ll come looking for you.

QUINN:
Is he serious?

MEZ:
Ya never know with Jesse.
