After midnight ...
QUALINA:
Racolo, what are you still doing up?
RACOLO:
Where’ve you been? Do you know what time it is?
QUALINA:
I beg your pardon - but I don't answer to you.
Good heavens, why is Aless not in his bed?
RACOLO:
He insisted on waiting up until you came home. Didn't you check
your messages? I've been calling and texting you.
QUALINA:
I must have forgotten to turn that thing back on after classes.
Oh dear, was there some sort of emergency?
RACOLO:
No but ... Aless was worried about you.
QUALINA:
He's such a doll for waiting up for me.
- And if you must know, I was out with Trey.
RACOLO:
Trey! Don't you know he's dating Es?
QUALINA:
Of course I do. We only went for coffee.
RACOLO:
Coffee? You had coffee with Trey! I know what that means.
I've stayed out late having coffee too ya know.
QUALINA:
I'm really beginning to worry about you honey.
RACOLO:
Yeah well, I keep wondering what you're doing. You're engaged
to my grandfather, remember? You shouldn't be out having coffee.
QUALINA:
I don't know who you think you're talking to, but I'm your
grandmother. You're not the one to be giving the orders here.
RACOLO:
Look, you're only here in my time, cause I screwed up a spell.
Since you refuse to listen to me and go back I'm responsible for you.
What could you possible be thinking having coffee with Trey?
QUALINA:
Oh for heaven's sake, it was only a cup of coffee. And I'm the
only one responsible for me and my actions. Really!
ALESS:
G-g-gram, you're home.
QUALINA:
Now look what you've done, you've woken up your brother.
RACOLO:
He wouldn't be up if you came home when you were supposed to.
ALESS:
W-what's g-g-going on?
QUALINA:
Nothing for you to concern yourself with sweetie. Your brother’s having
delusions of grandeur. Ignore him. Now we need to get you to bed.
RACOLO:
Wait just a minute …
QUALINA:
Good night Racolo.
RACOLO:
This can't happen again Qualina. I mean it. I forbid you to have
coffee with Trey or any other man.
QUALINA:
You see Aless, delusions of grandeur just like I said. Hopefully he'll
come to his senses by morning or I may need to ground him.
RACOLO:
You can't just walk way from me ...
QUALINA:
I said good night Racolo, sweet dreams.
RACOLO:
This is all Trey's fault. Having coffee with my grandmother and
sleeping with my ex. He and I are gonna have it out tomorrow.
That morning, in the dining room ...
QUALINA:
… I was so shocked to hear that Trey's leaving us. He'll be missed at
Magick School. He's such a good instructor. How are you coping honey?
ESMODONTI:
Can't say I'm happy about it but, I know his work's his thing. I
can dig that. We weren't serious but I can tell ya he was a really
good time. I'm sure gonna miss him. Oh well ... se la vie.
QUALINA:
I think it's taking a toll on Racolo.
ESMODONTI:
Yeah I what ya mean. He’s been crankier than usual.
QUALINA:
I'll say. He was so upset last night. How was I supposed to
know he was waiting up for me?
ESMODONTI:
He did that?
QUALINA:
Yes, Aless was asleep on the sofa, and Racolo, well
he became enraged when I told him I had coffee with Trey.
ESMODONTI:
You told him that? Did you happen to mention that I was with ya?
QUALINA:
Why, no. What difference would that have made?
ESMODONTI:
So ya just told him - ya had coffee withTrey? Hahahaha!
QUALINA:
Alright, what am I missing?
ESMODONTI:
Sometimes coffee is code for sex, hon.
QUALINA:
No! Really? Why I never. You mean he thinks …? Well of all
the nerve! For heaven's sake, I'm an engaged woman.
Oooh - am I going to give that boy a piece of my mind!
ESMODONTI:
Aw now cherie, put yourself in Roc's place. He's just looking out for
his grand-dad. You know, doin' the macho thing and protecting the
merchandise. It's pretty cute when ya think about it.
QUALINA:
You really think so? Hmmm, yes I suppose that ’s how he’d see it.
ESMODONTI:
Uh-huh, it's just his way of showin' how much he loves ya.
QUALINA:
You understand him so well. Thank you Es.
However, I'm still going to give him grief about it.
ESMODONTI:
You go girl!
