NEVE:
Jesse?… Jesse wake up.
NEVE:
Jesse wake uuuup.
JESSE:
groan
NEVE:
Jesse, want you. Want you NOW!
MEZ:
Neve it’s early, what are you doing here?
NEVE:
Want Jesse.
JESSE:
Go away Neve.
NEVE:
Time for breakfast.
JESSE:
Christ Neve - I’m hung, leave me alone.
NEVE:
No! You get up. NOW!
JESSE:
Shut up! Didn’t you friggin’ hear me? OW - dammit
my head. Just get the hell out of here.
NEVE:
... Jesse?
Neve’s lower lip starts to quiver …
MEZ:
Don’t talk to her like that.
JESSE:
Who asked you? This is between me and her.
And she’s leaving. Neve get out.
NEVE:
Jesse?
JESSE:
Will ya quit saying my name. Get out. Go - NOW!
Neve leaves the room, crying.
MEZ:
What’d you do that for? It’s not her fault you’re hungover.
JESSE:
The last thing I need is my demanding little sister pissing me off.
MEZ:
Don’t talk to me about demanding sisters. I’ve got two
of them. You’re just an amateur ...
MEZ:
…Vanni, what’re you doing here?
VANNI:
I need to talk to Jesse.
MEZ:
Mr. Congeniality? He's all yours. Just let me grab Io.
Mez leaves carrying his genie’s lamp.
VANNI:
Get up.
JESSE:
Can’t this wait? I’m not feeling very well.
VANNI:
I don’t care. Now get up.
JESSE:
Go away.
VANNI:
I see we’re going to do this the hard way.
Vanni grabs the blanket, and Jesse along with it, and ...
THUMP
JESSE:
Hey! What do ya think you're friggin' doing?
VANNI;
Getting you out of that bed.
JESSE:
Son of a … What the hell’s wrong with you! I oughta
knock you off your friggin’ ass.
VANNI:
Anytime you want to try - here I am. Now, that I have your attention, we're going to talk about your little sister.
JESSE:
What about her?
VANNI:
I understand that you feel your parents stuck you with her - and maybe they did, but that doesn’t give you the right to take your resentment out on her. You made her cry and that won’t happen again.
JESSE:
Well, it's her own friggin' fault. What the hell was she doing in here in the first place?
VANNI:
She helped Cammeo prepare your breakfast, and
wanted to surprise you with it.
JESSE:
Oh damn. She did? I didn’t know that.
Christ, I'm such a screw up.
VANNI:
Don’t you know that she idolized you? You’re her big brother. Her hero. It’s time you tried to live up to that.
JESSE:
But I don’t know how to … I mean she's my sister, and I'm happy to see her but, what the hell am I supposed to do with her? I didn’t ask for her to be here you know.
VANNI:
I know, but as long as she’s here, you’re going to see
to it that she’s happy or you’ll answer to me.
JESSE:
Great, so now I’m gonna have you breathing down my neck.
Just what I freakin’ need.
VANNI:
Only if you screw up. I plan to watch over the both of you,
until you prove to me that you know what you’re doing.
JESSE:
Why?
VANNI:
The way I see it - when you were younger, you lived with your parents some of the time. The rest - you were with relatives.
JESSE:
Yeah - so?
VANNI:
You grew up without having one constant person in your life.
Someone you could always count on. Just think how nice it would’ve been if you did.
