110-  Invitation

Wednesday morning in Trinity Cemetery ...

HERITA:

'Scuse me, but ya look a bit dead, are ya?

KARANTHIR:

Oh - hello. No I’m very much alive thank you. Just resting my eyes.

HERITA:
Bloody ‘ell! Are those fangs I see? You’re vampire!

KARANTHIR:

Only half, which is why I'm able to enjoy this lovely morning sunshine.

No need to fear, I don’t bite, unless I get to know you better.

HERITA:

‘ aIf vamp? I've never 'eard of such a thing.

And you sleep 'ere in the graveyard?

KARANTHIR:

No, I only came here to think. I’m Karanthir.

HERITA:

G’morning Karanthir. You can call me Herita.

KARANTHIR:

You look so familiar. Don’t I know you from somewhere?

HERITA:

A century ‘as passed since I last breathed fresh air and you gents

still 'aven’t come up with a more suitable pick-up line?

KARANTHIR:

I’ll have you know that wasn’t a line. You truly do remind

me of someone. I'm sure it'll come to me. Did you say something

about a century? Oh come now, you can’t be that old.

HERITA:

Can’t I?… You from round ‘ere?

KARANTHIR:

Possibly. What about you?

HERITA:

I’m … visiting.

KARANTHIR:

You have people ... here? So sorry, I didn’t realize.

I won’t keep you any longer.

HERITA:

Do stay. I’ve already ... made my presence known. Now I’m just waiting.

KARANTHIR:

My dear girl, what in the world could you possibly

be waiting for here, besides death?

HERITA:

Well ya see - I’ve no place else to go.

KARANTHIR:

That’s your big secret? My dear Herita, there’s no shame in being

homeless, been there myself a few times. Care to tell me how you came

to be in this situation or will you continue to dodge my questions?

HERITA:

Noticed that, did ya? Alright then, I’ll tell you. I once 'ad a

lovely family to live with until me jealous sister drove me away.

KARANTHIR:

Your own sister – that’s simply ghastly. No need to fret about it

any longer for I’m your knight in shining armor, here to save the day.

I live with a wonderful guardian who has a soft spot for strays.

I’m sure she’ll take you in.

HERITA:

Would she? But I’m a total stranger.

KARANTHIR:

I guarantee it.

HERITA:

I’d like to be invited.

KARANTHIR:

I’m inviting you. My home is yours.

HERITA:

That’s all I needed to ‘ear.

KARANTHIR:

Excellent, then let’s go.
