361 - Come and Go
Syrrah Lita Vanni Pica
2025
Saturday in Syrrah and Vanni’s sitting room …
SYRRAH:
Lita, why are you not dressed? It is almost time for lunch.
LITA:
Neve and me …
SYRRAH:
Neve and I, darling.
LITA:
Neve and I are having a lazy Saturday. We stay in our
jammies all day to watch TV and play video games.
SYRRAH:
No.
LITA:
No?
SYRRAH:
No darling. You are going to get dressed. Then we will discuss
how long you may watch TV or play those video games.
LITA:
But mummie …
SYRRAH:
There is no ‘but’ when addressing mummie.
Now, go get dressed.
LITA:
Daddy! And little me.
VANNI:
Look who just woke up from her nap.
SYRRAH:
I am not surprised. She must be hungry.
Come here little one …
SYRRAH:
… Lita, I expect you to be presentable when I return.
VANNI:
Wife, Lita and I are going on a little trip, the one we discussed last night.
SYRRAH:
Understood. I will be waiting for your return.
You listen closely to your father darling.
Syrrah and Pica leave.
LITA:
Are we going somewhere daddy?
VANNI:
Yes, we’re going to time travel today.
LITA:
But daddy, I do not know how I did that the first time.
VANNI:
That’s why I’m going to explain it to you. Then we’re going to go
forward - to the same time and place, together, before returning here.
LITA:
But … mummie said I have to get dressed.
VANNI:
You can get dressed afterwards.
LITA:
… I am scared.
VANNI:
It’s always a little scary when you learn something new.
Don’t worry, I’ll tell you exactly how it’s done.
Later …
SYRRAH:
Well Pica, by the looks of things, your future self
has taken her second time travel trip.
SYRRAH:
… We shall wait for their return.
SYRRAH:
I have been waiting. This blanket is for you.
VANNI:
Thank you.
SYRRAH:
Husband, where is our daughter?
VANNI:
She’ll be along in a minute. I wanted to give myself time to cover up.
SYRRAH:
I see.
LITA:
Mummie did you see? I did it. I did it!
SYRRAH:
Well done darling. I am so very proud of you.
LITA:
Daddy told me how and it is so easy.
Now I can come and go anytime I like.
SYRRAH:
No.
LITA:
No?
VANNI:
No, there are rules that you will follow.
SYRRAH:
Indeed there are. Both of you get dressed. It is such a
lovely day - I think perhaps, a picnic in the park is in order.
We will discuss everything there and then.
SYRRAH:
… Unless you prefer to remain here and have your lazy Saturday?
LITA:
Oh no. I want to go to the park with you and daddy and little me.
Mummie, can Neve come too?
SYRRAH:
She may indeed.
