358 - Dragon Rider

2025

 Harmonia        Quinn                  Xyla                     Lu                   Orrie

Tuesday in Harmonia and Lu’s sitting room …

HARMONIA:
Go on and call her Quinn, and when Xyla appears

- we’ll know for sure that you’re her dragon rider.

QUINN:
I think this is all a bit nutty but  - here it goes.

QUINN:
… Xyla. Hey Xyla!

XYLA:

YOU!

XYLA:
Lu, you told him!

LU:

I did. I’m only surprised daddy didn’t suspect something
when Quinn was with you last summer.

XYLA:

Your father was and still is too distracted by that
ex-genie to notice anything.

HARMONIA:

So lil’ brother, you’re now the owner of an ornery ‘ol dragon.

XYLA:

That is not how this works Harmonia.

HARMONIA:

Maybe not, but I know he has some kind
of power over ya. He gotcha here - didn’t he?

LU:

According to the only books I could find on this subject - when one
born with this gift sees his first dragon, a bond is made. Is that true?

XYLA:
I’m not here to answer your questions Lu!

QUINN:
Ain’t ya now? I’d like to know the answer to that. Is it true then?

XYLA:
There’s more to it.  All will be revealed to
you in time. You are not yet ready.

HARMONIA:
I believe that to be true, Quinn. Just wait till you see her in
her true form. It’s a sight you won’t easily forget.

LU:
In order for that happen, you’ll need to be in the Elvin realm.

HARMONIA:
That’s right. Can’t have ya making a public spectacle of yourself by
turning into a dragon here in sunny ol’ Florida. Just think what
the neighbors would say! That’d be hoot and a half wouldn’t it?

XYLA:
In this realm, I will always be seen as I am now. No one

can see through my disguise.

knock knock knock

ORRIE:

Hi Quinn. Is Harmon … Wow!

ORRIE:
Unbelievable! I never saw a real dragon before.

HARMONIA:
You were sayin’?

XYLA:
He was listening at the door.

HARMONIA:
That’s where you’re wrong Xyla hon. This boy’s gifted and can
see right through your illusion to the truth.

XYLA:
That’s impossible. My magic is more powerful than that of a mere child.

ORRIE:

How she fit in this room when she’s so big?

HARMONIA:

Orrie, will ya tell me what color the dragon is.

ORRIE:
Blue-green  or  green-blue, with gold glitter …

HARMONIA:
And there’s your proof. He can see ya just fine.

XYLA:
Enough of this! You - do not call me again until you
are ready for what awaits you.

ORRIE:

Did you see that? She went all gone just like that.

HARMONIA:

She sure did. Now come along with me. I promised you a story and

a story you’re gonna get. I’m gonna tell ya all about a dragon.

Harmonia and Orrie leave.

LU:
So, what do you think of her?

QUINN:
Cannae say I like her. She’s a bit much, eh?

LU:
Yes, but she’s family and she does have some good

qualities, although she rarely shows them.

QUINN:
What do I do now, then?

LU:
These books may help, and you can talk to Aless about this.

He has a good understanding of magic.

QUINN:
Aye, he’s not gonna believe this. It’s a wee cr-dazy for sure.
